In the meantime, you may need to manage how your end users will use both products, as well as how to transition fully to Teams. Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business Online are both capable of federation, which allows people to contact other users outside their company. However, configuring these Office 365 options the same way as Lync or Skype for Business Server on premises can lead to unexpected results.

This past week Microsoft made good on their promise from Ignite 2017 to release an updated Skype for Business Online Network Assessment Tool. In addition to performing a basic network performance test, the tool now makes connectivity checks out to Skype for Business Online to ensure that no network  devices are blocking any IP addresses, ports, or protocols.
